Detailed and high resolution farm maps are prepared showing the farms key features. These maps provide essential management tools. The information that can be included is limitless, however it is commonly the details of paddocks (ID and sizes), pastures, soil types, production zones, dams and waterways, roads, gates, infrastructure, and areas with production constraints like poor drainage.
Different maps can be produced with selected information. A map for the fertiliser spreading contractor might include fences, gates, tracks and wet areas but another for aerial spraying should also include buildings, waterways and the location of power lines. Farm workers will benefit from a basic map showing paddock layout, roads and gates, dams and waterways. These maps are also very useful for emergency services personnel.
